Release for Wear OS
Posted on 7 April 2021 by RJ Saftescu
After successfully passing the Wear OS quality checks (meeting the somehow stringent set of app quality criteria), it effectively became qualified as a Wear OS app and is now discoverable on Google Play.
Mixing the useful with the fun, this app will equip your smartwatch with a handy and engaging location-sharing toolkit – tracking targets' positions and/or Points Of Interest on maps & fun radars.
Designing apps for wearables is substantially different to designing for phones or tablets – with different use cases and different ergonomics to take into consideration. Despite all of this, the Wear OS app pretty much enjoys the same functionalities as its Android equivalent – including DTMF signaling (see the User Guide for more info on that) – and works as standalone (does not require the Android app to be installed on the companion phone).
Things will just have to be a bit. . smaller!
But once running LockOnMe, your wearable device will benefit of a trove of location tools & goodies: live position broadcast, target tracking, Points Of Interest (see the related blog post), MGRS coordinates, maps, radars, beeps and tweeps...
Here is how it would display targets on the Marine Radar for instance:
And most importantly: LockOnMe looks cool!
